Vinyl flooring 'prevents people hurting themselves'

A school in the US has laid vinyl flooring in its new dance studio in the hope that it will reduce the chances of students slipping and falling.

Michael Davis, a senior at La Mirada High in California, said the new vinyl flooring felt "great".

He said students slipped a lot on the old floor covering but that the new dance studio at the school was an improvement, reports the Whitter Daily News.

"But now, we have the padded floor, and I think that'll definitely keep people from falling and hurting themselves," he commented.

The school principal Don Jones said the new dance studio was a "huge contribution" to the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at the school.

Vinyl flooring recently helped a home in the US to win recognition for its renovation.

Chuck Alcorn laid vinyl flooring in his kitchen and was then named a runner-up in the under $50,000 (£32,000) category at the 2009-10 Renovation Inspiration Contest, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
