Vinyl flooring helps home to win renovation project award
A home in the US has won an award recognising its renovation after laying vinyl flooring.
Chuck Alcorn laid vinyl flooring in the kitchen of his new home as part of a major renovation project at the house in Lawrenceville, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The work has led to Mr Alcorn's project being named a runner-up in the 2009-10 Renovation Inspiration Contest in the under $50,000 (£32,000) category.
"I came in here not knowing what I was trying to achieve," explained Mr. Alcorn. "But I explored my options and did my research. It's a dramatic difference."
He spent several weeks scraping off the brown paint from the original solid wood flooring in the attic of the house.
A vinyl floor can be a good selection for a kitchen as it is easy to keep clean.
The Busy Bees Day Nursery and Kid's Club in Blaenavon chose to lay vinyl flooring for its hygienic properties after receiving a grant, reports the Free Press.
