Wood floors 'are great for busy rooms'
Wood flooring has been recommended for people who need a hardwearing option for a busy room.
Marc Atiyolil, editor-in-chief of Canadian Home Trends, said in response to a reader query in the Edmonton Journal that hardwood floors are both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
"They're easy to clean and practically stain-resistant. They'll last for years and come in a variety of stains and wood grains," he explained.
Mr Atiyolil added that wood flooring will look great in a city apartment for a modern yet homely feel.
To create a warmer atmosphere around seating areas, he suggested using area rugs in order to soften the hardwood's presence.
In May this year, solid wood flooring was also recommended as an alternative to carpets for people who have allergies.
Asthma sufferer Lynn Pike told the Star that replacing her carpets with this kind of material reduced her symptoms significantly and had a "huge impact" on her life.
