Wood floors are a 'popular industrial element'
Wood flooring has been put forward as a good choice for those seeking to create an industrial-style decor in their homes.
Writing for Today Online, columnist Melissa Rayworth noted the rise of the trend, which has seen fixtures from 20th-century factories and warehouses used in private properties.
She consulted Brian Flynn of Decordemon.com, who assured homeowners that although it sounds challenging, industrial style "blends easily" into both older houses and new builds.
Mr Flynn encouraged the use of wood flooring in the kitchen, noting that this is a practical place to begin renovations.
"Painted plank wood floors are another popular industrial element," he said. "The more wear and tear, the more authentic the look."
This comes after interior designer Vern Yip told the Associated Press that homeowners should set a budget before they commence home improvement work.
He also noted that renovators can coax more space out of an area by tactically placing or removing walls.
