Wood flooring 'suits open rooms'

Wood flooring has been promoted as being particularly suitable for expansive rooms.

Writing for Yourhome.ca, columnist David Ferguson responded to the query of one reader who wanted to know how best to arrange his living room, which is adorned with wood flooring.

He noted that the reader should decide on a colour scheme, as this will play "an important role" in how the room will feel once it is fully furnished with amenities.

Mr Ferguson also stated that tactical use of rugs, seating upholstery and window treatments can combine to create "refreshing tones" and give the space an "airy atmosphere".

"In the main seating area, integrate an area rug that features lighter peach-orange, yellows and browns that will harmonise and flatter the oak flooring," he said.

According to a BBC home improvement guide, creating a harmonious colour scheme is relatively easy and advised homeowners to choose colours of similar densities.
