Wood flooring 'ruined' In Londonderry floods
Wood flooring has been ruined by widespread water damage in Northern Ireland.
A number of people in a Londonderry housing estate were forced to flee their homes as a pipe burst early on Tuesday morning.
Speaking to BBC News, Alan Curley, a resident of Lincoln Courts revealed the extent of the problems.
"The water was about two feet deep this morning," he said. "It has come up through the floors and cupboard, and the wooden floors are ruined."
Mr Curley went on to state that the cost of repairing these problems is going to be "unbelievable" and called the occurrence an "absolute disaster.
Similar comments were issued by Jimmy Jones, who, along with his pregnant wife Fiona, was forced to abandon the property after the pipe burst.
"It's awful," he said.
Earlier in the month, El Paso Times columnist Maria Gonzalez warned homeowners who had been hit by extreme temperatures and broken pipes to ensure their wood floors are not damaged.
