Wood flooring replaces traditional fixtures in new pub

Wood flooring has replaced many of the traditional fixtures of a soon-to-be-opened pub in London.

The Docklands recently reported on the fate of the Watermans Arms, one of the oldest venues of its type on the Isle of Dogs.

In addition to changing its name to the Great Eastern, part of the venue will now be sectioned off into a coffee shop and upstairs rooms converted into accommodation for backpackers.

However, many of the traditional fixtures of public houses, such as pool tables, fruit machines and Sky Sports are also being abandoned in favour of more high-brow features.

"In its place will be restored fireplaces, wooden floors and more specialist drinks on tap. Fabric samples and drawings are strewn around the pub for anyone who wants to know how it will look," said the publication.

The Friday Flyer recently reported on the use of wood flooring in the recently-renovated Sports Stop Pub & Grill in Los Angeles.
