Wood flooring is 'more eco-friendly'
Homeowners who want to decorate their property in an environmentally-sound way may want to consider installing wooden flooring.
Speaking to the Montreal Gazette, environmentalist Steven Guilbeault said that for the past 18 months, a Quebec group has been urging consumers and those in the construction industry to choose wood in the fight against climate change.
Direction of Coalition Bois Quebec Carl-Eric Guertin said that "managing forests sustainably" before going on to "use the wood as a substitute for materials like steel or cement" can aid the planet in "very tangible ways".
As wooden flooring can be recycled, it reduces the need for more trees to be cut down, it is noted, making it a good eco option.
Long lasting and durable hardwood flooring can last for decades, so homeowners need not replace it regularly.
The Milwaukee Journal recently reported that wood flooring is a great way of improving the ecological credentials of a home, particularly if it is reclaimed.
