Wood flooring 'is a warm material'

Wood flooring has been highlighted as a great surface for those seeking to add warmth to their bathroom.

In a recent article for the Telegraph, columnist David Nicholls spoke to Haley Tarrington, of washroom specialist CP Hart, about the benefits of the material.

"Wood really softens up the space," she said. "It's a warm material and the wood grain adds a natural texture to surfaces."

However, Ms Tarrington warned that these types of products will need to be specially designed for use in a bathroom, due to the vast amount of moisture and frequent temperature changes.

She recommended using engineered woods and pointed to Cedar, teak and iroko as good options.

Ms Tarrington went on to note the increasing proliferation of bathtubs and basins made from timber but warned that these fixtures will require regular maintenance.

Blinds were recently put forward as a good accessory for homeowners to fit in their bathroom in an interior design guide from the Shropshire Star.
