Wood flooring is a 'good idea' for nurseries
Wood flooring can be used to great effect in rooms which are likely to experience a lot of wear, according to one home improvement writer.
Writing for Helium, columnist Rachelle de Bretagne explored the important home improvement decisions associated with furnishing a nursery.
She noted that nursery flooring will need to deal with a lot of wear and claimed that this could often be an issue when decorating on a budget.
"The flooring within a nursery needs to be fairly wear-resistant and if you cannot afford a functional laminate flooring, see what the original flooring is," Ms de Bretagne said.
She advised removing old carpets and refinishing the wood floors underneath using a suitable varnish.
A Fox News guide from last month echoed Ms de Bretagne's sentiments and advised homeowners that laminate flooring is a "better way to go" than carpet.
She went on to recommend that looking for bargains is often worthwhile for homeowners seeking to furnish a nursery and said buying second hand can yield great rewards.
