Wood flooring 'has natural warmth'

The beneficial properties of wood flooring have been promoted in a new guide to kitchen design.

In a recent article for the Independent, columnist Caroline Kamp spoke to a number of design specialists about flooring options and which materials are best suited to which rooms.

She talked to interior designer Suzy Hoodless, who advised homeowners to "work" with their existing architecture and put as much money into purchasing a quality material as possible.

"Solid wood flooring from a sustainable source is a good, if fairly expensive, option as it has a natural warmth and tone," Ms Kamp observed.

In a recent LFpress.com feature, interior designer Jill Willcox noted that, when designing kitchens, homeowners should opt for a colour scheme which either complements or contrasts the property's existing decor.

Ms Kamp went on to explain that vinyl flooring is also a good choice for the kitchen, especially for those with children.
