Wood flooring 'exudes warmth'

Wood flooring has been hailed in a new guide to the use of natural materials in home decor.

Writing for the Western Mail, columnist Yvonne Jones said that unlike many manmade fittings, natural materials provide aesthetic benefits, in addition to being hard-wearing and practical.

She spoke about the reclaimed flagstones in her kitchen, which were formerly used by a Cardiff police station.

Ms Jones went on to advise homeowners that great wood flooring can be made from reclaimed timber, available at many reclamation yards.

She promoted the use of natural materials, claiming they provide a "pleasingly individual effect."

"Natural surfaces such as stone, marble, wood and slate exude warmth and texture and are extremely easy to live with, and no two pieces are identical," Ms Jones said.

Her advice echoes the sentiments of a guide on Lon's Article Directory. It stated that wood flooring can provide a home with "timeless elegance".
