Wood flooring 'coveted by buyers'

Wood flooring has been promoted as a material which can add value to a property.

A recent guide to home renovation in the Richmond Review claimed the fixture is becoming increasingly popular among those seeking to replace their existing floors.

"Hardwood is coveted by buyers, and its clean, inviting look makes it a neutral design element that goes with many different types of decor," it said.

The guide went on to discuss the ways in which modern wood flooring has changed from the types available in previous decades.

It noted that 25 years ago, wood floors were typically solid strips of timber, which needed to be nailed into place by a carpenter.

However, today's fabricated offerings come pre-finished and are "much easier to install", meaning professional assistance is not always required.

Earlier in the month, a Calgary Herald guide to materials claimed wood flooring's higher price is offset by its value-adding effect on properties.
