Wood flooring 'can improve green credentials'
Wood flooring has been hailed as a material which offers homeowners the chance to make their properties more environmentally-friendly.
A Daily Reporter guide to sustainable DIY choices claimed that in addition to helping the planet, a green lifestyle can also have financial benefits.
It noted that "substantial" amounts of energy can be saved by homeowners who tackle the issues of drafts and insulation.
Similarly, those who look to xeriscaping, a low-irrigation form of landscaping, can save on water bills, in addition to preventing the proliferation of pesticides and chemicals.
The guide went on to promote the benefits of sustainably-sourced wood flooring.
"Sustainable flooring is growing in popularity now that going green has truly taken off. Search for wood that has been harvested in an environmentally-friendly way," it said.
Similar sentiments were issued in a recent Coast Explorer article, which noted the increasing popularity of eco-friendly wood floors and other sustainable materials.
