Wood flooring 'can be neutral'

Neutral wood flooring can be of great use to homeowners attempting to decorate in the transitional style.

This is according to a Oneindia guide to interior design, which advised DIY enthusiasts to take a holistic approach to decor.

"If you think decorating your living room alone will make your house complete then you are mistaken. Every corner of your house needs to be decorated in coordination," it said.

The guide went on to highlight the important role which wood flooring has to play in interior design and stated that the right furnishings can make the material feel "neutral".

It particularly recommended the use of solid wood floors, in conjunction with coloured or textured carpets.

A recent Express and Star article also hailed the benefits of hard wood floors.

It claimed that the material can often be used to create a warm feel in the home but warned renovators of the dangers of exposing it to moisture for prolonged periods.
