Wood flooring 'can be kept safe from pets'
Wood flooring can be protected from the wear and tear of having pets in the house, it has been claimed.
A recent EMC News guide advised homeowners of ways to ensure their dogs do not scratch or scuff the material.
It noted that keeping dogs' nails short can be a boon to wood flooring and recommended regular trimming.
Similarly, to improve the traction of pooches on the material - the guide advised ensuring any growths of fur between their paws are kept to a minimum length.
Rugs were also put forward as a way to keep wood floors safe and mats were recommended for placing under feeding bowls to soak up spills and slobber.
The guide went on to advise putting runners in high-traffic areas, so that dogs can easily walk from room to room, without scratching timber.
Earlier in the month, laminate flooring was put forward as a great option for homes with pets and active kids in an ABC guide.
