Wood flooring 'adds to indoor-outdoor feel'

Wood flooring has been promoted as adding a rustic feel to the decor of a home.

Writing for the Monterey Herald, Kathryn Nichols explored one Pasadera property which had been made environmentally-friendly through the use of underfloor heating.

By installing radiant heat systems under their wood floors, Craig and Ingrid Powell managed to save money on energy bills, in addition to keeping their home cosy throughout the winter.

Ingrid Powell is especially proud of the changes she made to the house in order to bring out a rustic charm, which include an entryway fountain and glass tiling.

"Adding to that indoor-outdoor feeling are the hardwoods used throughout the home, including sustainably grown eucalyptus and red myrtle, and repeating of motifs inside and out," said Ms Nichols.

Earlier in the month, a Construction Week article claimed that wood flooring is becoming an increasingly popular material as developers opt for more sustainable products.
