Wood flooring 'a purchase for life'

Wood flooring is a purchase that will last for a long time, property owners have been advised.

Glen Goodrich, president of US-based Goodrich Flooring, told the Collier Citizen that while carpets have to be replaced on a relatively regular basis, tile and wood flooring options are a longer term investment.

"Wood and tile are more of a lifetime flooring purchase, while you probably would expect to replace your carpet every five to seven years," he stated.

Mr Goodrich said consumers who visited his store appeared to be favouring darker colours of wood and carpet, a trend he put down to their richer looking nature.

He added that it was important for homeowners to properly maintain whatever surface they choose to install as "nothing is stain proof".

Earlier this month, an article in the Times suggested that wood flooring is a good idea in any room which contains a bath tub or shower.
