Use wood flooring 'to improve your green credentials'
Wood flooring has been billed as an ideal material for environmentally-conscious homeowners.
In a recent article for the Edmonton Journal, columnist Lisa Kadane noted that following the recent period of financial hardship, consumers are beginning to spend again.
She observed the growing popularity of environmentally-friendly construction materials and named wood flooring as a valuable addition to this set.
"We've been hearing this mantra for years - green up your home by choosing zero-VOC paints, wood flooring from sustainable forests and energy efficient appliances and light bulbs," said Ms Kadane.
She went on to explain that manufacturers are increasingly trying to cater for this trend with new products, such as sofas stuffed with soy foam and upholstered, non-toxic fabrics like linen and hemp.
Last month, Centre Daily revealed that wood flooring is a popular choice of material for homeowners who opt to have their home deconstructed rather than demolished in a conventional way.
