Solid wood flooring is 'simple to clean'

One of the major advantages of choosing solid wood flooring is that it is easy to maintain and clean.

That does not just apply to simple everyday cleaning, it is also the case with tougher stains - the sort that would do real damage to carpets.

Writing for the New York Times Syndicate, domestic advice guru Martha Stewart said that even spills like dried latex paint could be removed from solid wood flooring.

She explained that rubbing alcohol applied with a clean cloth is usually all it takes to remove latex paint stains from solid wood floors.

If they prove stubborn, it may be necessary to use a soft-bristle brush or plastic scraper, or, in the very worst cases, buy a specialist cleaning product, said Ms Stewart, who has written a number of books about domestic tasks such as cooking and housekeeping.

The expert concluded: "Latex-based paint isn't usually a disaster for hardwood flooring, even if the spill has gone untended."ADNFCR-2810-ID-19539673-ADNFCR
