Solid wood flooring 'gives house vintage feel'

A home in the US has been installed with solid wood flooring to achieve a vintage feel.

Monica and Kent Stuart decided to install solid wood flooring as they were attempting to make their house in Minneapolis cosy and comfortable, reports the Star Tribune.

Mrs Stuart said she wanted the house to feel "sophisticated" and "cultural".

"We didn't want a suburban Maple Grove home dropped into Minneapolis. We wanted it to feel old and have architectural features we could be proud of," she commented.

The house also has panelled ceiling beams and features such as glass doorknobs to remind the Stuarts of previous family homes.

Mr and Mrs Stuart have used modern light fittings for a contemporary edge to balance out the vintage feel offered by the wood floors.

This comes after solid wood flooring was also installed in the Cityville Block 121 project in Birmingham, Alabama to offer a high-end finish to the apartments, reports the Birmingham News.
