Reused wood flooring 'gaining momentum'
Reused wood flooring is becoming an increasingly popular choice for homeowners in the US.
This is according to a recent LA Times article, in which columnist Stacy Downs spoke to some of the people involved in the trend about its growing appeal.
"Deconstruction - the careful removal of salvageable hardwood flooring, light fixtures, cabinetry, doors and nearly everything that makes a house a house - is gaining momentum," she said.
Ms Downs consulted Jack Williams of Kansa, who recently decided to deconstruct their existing home and put the materials to work in a new property.
She also spoke to Mark Bullock, deconstruction manager for Kansas City's Habitat ReStore, who claimed that none of his customers have suffered financially due to the process so far.
Earlier in the month, Dave Bennink, owner of Washington-based building firm Re-Use, told Centre Daily that increasing efficiency means deconstructing is now as efficient as some traditional demolition techniques.
