People 'love wood flooring'
Wood flooring has been hailed as a popular choice for consumers by one American retailer.
Writing for CTV News, columnist Chris Olsen promoted the material as a "quick and easy way" to renovate a home and spoke to Pat McCarney, whose company installs wood flooring.
Mr McCarney said that the popularity of wood floors is largely down to how durable the material is.
"People love hardwood floors, mostly because of the durability. It's a classic look. It's maintainable," he said.
Mr Olsen pointed to figures from Consumer Reports, which tested a range of popular wood flooring materials to see which withstood wear the best.
It was noted by the magazine's John Galeotafiore that laminate and vinyl flooring scored top marks for resisting everyday wear.
A Wood You Like guide to floor care encourages the regular use of polishes and hard wax on wood flooring and states that buffing the floor can also be of benefit.
