Oak wood floors feature in family home

Oak wood floors are a feature of a family home in the US, it has been revealed.

Mel and Janet Ruzicka bought the house in Bentley's Ridge and then set about putting their personal touch on it, including the installation of the oak wood flooring in the kitchen.

The room features lots of wood, with the cabinets and centre island unit made of cherry, reports the Baltimore Sun.

"I watched it being built every step of the way. We could envision furniture layout from the model. It was a big help," Ms Ruzicka said.

The couple chose to sell most of the furniture from their previous home, allowing them to buy pieces that fitted in with the design of their new house.

This comes after a couple in the US selected solid wood flooring as part of renovation work, reports the Oregonian.

Art and Jan Chandler installed wood floors in the attic of their house in order to create a media room.
