Oak flooring installed in Scottish housing development

Oak flooring has provided a modern touch to four croft houses built in Scotland.

Sylvia Marshall, who developed the four cottages in Wester Ross, told the Press and Journal that she had wanted to combine the traditional style of the renovated crofts with some modern comforts.

While the crofts have authentic stone walls, slate roofs and timber ceilings, some concessions have been made to newer interior design trends.

Along with the wood flooring, the homes contain modern bath and shower suites, as well as oak kitchen units and recessed lighting.

Ms Marshall said she was very pleased with the results.

"The houses are spectacular and I'm delighted with them," she stated.

Last month, Amy Fontinelle of WDAM.com stated that installing wood flooring is a good way of improving the value of a property.

She added that householders may wish to check under their carpets to see if there is wood flooring underneath.
