'Maintenance is needed' for wood flooring

Wood flooring and other wood furnishings need regular maintenance to look their best, it has been advised.

A guide to cleaning in Lon's Article Directory stated that wood is one of the most common materials to be found in a home and provides a number of important functions.

The guide advised homeowners to bear in mind the difference which regular maintenance can make to wood flooring and other wood furnishings.

"It is best to keep in mind that to be able to preserve this furniture, you must maintain it clean and polished," said the guide.

The article went on to recommend that homeowners purchase a cleaning solution from a home improvement supplier or create their own using water combined with disinfectant and then apply it using a cloth.

This advice follows similar sentiments from the Good Housekeeping Research Institute. Last month, representatives from the organisation told the Salt Lake Tribune that wood floors can look good as new with basic maintenance.
