Landlord offers to pay for wood flooring
A landlord has paid for the wood flooring used by one US couple in a rented apartment.
Canadian publication the Star reported on the story of Jose and Dominique Jarry-Shore, whose landlord Ed made the suggestion after Mrs Jarry-Shore expressed fears about the wall-to-wall carpets in her new home.
"I'd heard carpets were bad for kids and irritated allergies. Then Ed made a proposal - he would pay for new floating floors – if we would install them," she said.
Mrs Jarry-Shore agreed to the offer and drafted her husband Jose to work on the installation.
Despite much "grumbling" from Mr Jarry-Shore, the new wood floors were successfully installed and the landlord was so impressed with his work he offered Mr Jarry-Shore several weeks of work carrying out repairs on his other apartments.
This comes after Jason Orme of Homebuilding and Renovation magazine claimed homeowners can take on a "surprising" variety of DIY tasks.
