Interior design writer signals end of white wood flooring trend

An interior design writer has heralded the end of the trend towards bleached white wood floors.

Writing in the Huffington Post, columnist Norman Darden claimed that, despite the efforts of home decorators and interior designers, the trend has suffered a significant decline.

"Bleached white wood floors had to be short-lived by the nature of this imperfect creation. It was a fad that couldn't have a long life," he said.

However, Mr Darden also noted that wood floors are still the premier type of flooring in America and can often have a bearing on the price of a house.

He went on to explain that the lack of a maintenance regime and the susceptibility of the material to signs of wear meant that the trend was always destined not to last.

Margaret Kendi of Bayer MaterialScience LLC highlighted the importance of the use of quality resin in the maintenance of wood flooring at a meeting of the Southern Society of Coatings Technology earlier in the year.
