Hotel replaces carpet with wood flooring
A hotel has replaced its old carpet fittings with new wood flooring in an effort to remain attractive to travellers.
Writing for the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian, Cherisse Moe reported on the story of the Kapok Hotel, which underwent a huge makeover as part of its 40th anniversary.
New furniture was incorporated into the hotel, with the old carpets being replaced by brand new wood floors.
Rooms division manager George Solomon claimed that undertaking the facelift was a necessary risk during the harsh economic climate of the recession.
"Within the last five to ten years, the hotel industry got five new properties, so it's important to keep up," he said. "People really like the new look."
Mr Solomon went on to claim that many guests had said they preferred the hotel's new layout.
Bisnow recently reported on the sale of the Hotel Chelsea in New York, which is noted for its wood flooring.
