Hotel praised for wood flooring

Wood flooring has contributed to a positive review for a hotel in Newcastle.

Journalist Clare Mann visited the Hotel du Vin for the Daily Telegraph and returned to her newsroom raving about the food, design and character of the city centre building.

She said of the hotel's 42 rooms: "Dark wood floors and rugs, soothing neutral colours (cream, taupe and chocolate) are mixed with some stunning wallpapers."

Along with the flooring, Ms Mann also found time to praise the French cuisine on offer at the Hotel du Vin, as well as its free weekly wine tasting sessions for guests who book lunch in the bistro on Fridays.

In November, hardwood flooring was also installed into rooms at the luxury boutique residence Renaissance Hotel New York 57, reported Hospitality Design.

More than 200 rooms were redesigned as part of a £36 million makeover of the property, which also included the installation of a glass-enclosed spiral staircase in the building.
