Hardwood floors are a 'good option'
Solid wood floors are versatile, easy to install and adaptable for use in a variety of rooms, one flooring expert has claimed.
Responding to a reader query in the Province, Marc Atiyolil said that when planning to redesign a home, the prime factor to consider would be what the space would be used for and who would be using it.
He pointed to a range of materials designed to cope with various levels of wear and "traffic", but noted that solid wood flooring is particularly useful for many purposes.
"[A] good option is hardwood floors. They're easy to clean and practically stain-resistant. They'll last for years and come in a variety of stains and wood grains," he said.
His advice echoes the sentiments of a recent Valpolife.com article in which a local firm promoted the durability of wood flooring.
Mr Atiyolil went on to recommend the use of wood floors in areas such as the dining room, living room and master bedroom.
However, if solid wood floors are too "heavy", he recommended adding a rug or other covering to soften their presence.
