Frank Gehry chooses hardwood floors for luxury home
A luxury house designed by architects Rick Cortez and Frank Gehry boasts striking hardwood floors.
The Huffington Post described the flooring as the most striking feature of the house, which has five bedrooms and several bathrooms.
"This modern craftsman home in Santa Monica was designed by architect Rick Cortez, but features a pop-out space created by Frank Gehry to take in the night stars," explained the news provider.
Gehry is well known for creating the iconic Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which has been widely credited with inspiring the Basque city's spike in tourism in recent years.
The property in the US designed alongside Cortez boasts hardwood floors made from Spanish cedar, with the sellers describing how a lot of the material was reclaimed from disused barn doors on the east coast of the country.
According to the Huffington Post, the use of wood in this way "elevates" simple designs and accentuates the personality of the property.
