Elementary school faces wood flooring woes

An elementary school in the US is unable to renovate its wood flooring.

Writing for the Observer-Dispatch, columnist Daniel Bader reported on the Roscoe Conkling educational establishment, which is currently undergoing refurbishment.

He spoke to building company Charles Gaetano Construction, which claimed it needs additional funds to rehabilitate the wood flooring of the school.

While attempting to pull up the carpets and expose the underlying wood flooring, workers discovered a number of trenches in the floors of classrooms, which housed wires and piping as part of a 1997 capital plan.

"The original intent was to restore the wood flooring in the classrooms. Every classroom has the flooring carved," said project manager Tony Armlin.

He went on to claim that the contractors responsible for the previous renovation work "cut corners".

This follows news from the Echo Press, which recently reported on a recreation project in Minnesota, which will feature a cutting-edge gymnastics centre outfitted with wood floors.
