'Distinct' wood flooring features in new Cambodian hotel

Wood flooring has been noted as a key feature of a new hotel in Cambodia.

The World Interior Design Network recently reported on the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, a recently-opened hotel in the old quarter of Penh.

It explored the 12-storey building's "colonial style" features, noting that it boasts more than 200 rooms, furnished with architecture inspired by European design merged with "contemporary Cambodian sophistication".

The publication went on to note some of the key elements of the hotel.

"The new $50 million (£32 million) five-star hotel is distinct for its wooden floors, high coffered ceilings, and wooden latticework," said the World Interior Design Network.

It also praised the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra's "chic" restaurants and bars, in addition to its "upscale" spa, swimming pools, sports club and luxurious conferencing facilities.

This comes after London's Grosvenor House hotel was recently sold for £470 million as part of a recent spate of hotel development in the British capital.
