Cost of wood flooring 'has fallen'

The cost of building materials, such as wood flooring, has plummeted.

This is according to Josh Garskof, a CNN Money columnist, who recently noted the falling prices.

He cited statistics that show the cost of lumber is down by 35 per cent, whereas plywood has steadily reduced in cost since the "mid-2000s".

"The cost of building supplies has tumbled," said Mr Garskof. "On the whole, construction supplies are bargains right now."

He went on to state that now is an ideal time to begin home renovation projects - noting that new features could be a boon to those trying to sell their home in a difficult market.

Mr Garskof asserted that even modest improvements can add value to a property and claimed the "lion's share" of the associated costs will be earned back when it comes time to sell.

This follows advice from interior designer Adrienne Chin, who pointed to kitchen renovations as a great option for those seeking to make their home more attractive to buyers.
