Subfloor 'important for laminate flooring'
Laminate flooring must be fitted on top of a subfloor, property owners have been advised.
According to Home and Garden Television, an underlayment or vapour barrier is very important and is needed whenever laminate flooring is being installed.
Writing in the Seattle Times, the design expert said this would help to protect the flooring from moisture and also soundproof a property.
Home and Garden Television added that a subfloor is also needed when solid wood flooring is being laid down in a house.
"Use subfloor compound to ensure a level surface," it recommended.
Home and Garden Television added that ignoring this advice could prove potentially costly for property owners.
This coincides with advice from interior design specialist Kate van Niekerk, who said a few simple home improvements can make "all the difference" to a property.
Speaking to Women24.com, she added that refurbishing areas such as the bathroom and kitchen can also be highly affordable.
