Laminate flooring used to upgrade hotels

Laminate flooring has been installed in the kitchens and suite foyers of lots of top-class hotels in North America.

Homewood Suites by Hilton has invested considerable sums in improving its residential-style hotels over the last five years, taking steps such as buying new kitchen and bathroom units and upgrading the bedding and linen package.

The improvements have also included installing new laminate flooring in its food preparation areas and suite foyers.

Homewood Suites believes this is significant, as many other hotel chains have cut back on their guest amenities as a result of the economic downturn.

Spokesman Bill Duncan commented: "We have been fortunate to continue the brand's steady growth through a very challenging year."

He added that its hotels have remained focused on providing exceptional service to every guest throughout the recession.

This comes after a report by Travelzoo found that 42 per cent of people plan to travel more next year than they did in 2009.
