Laminate flooring 'top for wear resistance'
The durability of laminate flooring has been promoted in a new guide to wood floors.
A new Consumer Reports guide written for News4Jax explored the range of wood flooring types on offer to homeowners.
After a series of tests which mimicked the everyday wear which flooring products are subjected to by repeatedly being scored by a bristled brush, laminate flooring was found to be top for durability.
Tester for Consumer Reports John Galeotafiore said: "We found laminate and vinyl still come out on top when it comes to resisting everyday wear".
Over thirty wood flooring products were examined in the report and were subjected to extreme tests, which included having weights dropped from various heights to measure denting resistance.
Property market website Our Property promoted engineered wood flooring as a highly durable product in its guide to flooring materials and noted the increasing popularity of laminate flooring over the past few years.
