Laminate flooring to be laid by volunteers in New Orleans
Laminate flooring will be laid by volunteers in New Orleans properties to help the city recover from Hurricane Katrina.
The storm hit the city in August 2005, with floods ruining many properties in the region, and since then the area has struggled to recover from the damage caused.
However, as part of a local church mission, laminate flooring will now be laid as part of the rebuilding of homes in the city.
Jim Thibodeau decided to put on classes to help the volunteers prepare for the renovation work in the properties.
"It turns out we're going to be doing laminate flooring, and peel-and-stick tile flooring," he told the Foster's Daily Democrat.
"So we're having two classes on each."
Between 15 and 20 people will be heading to New Orleans with Mr Thibodeau later this month to help with the rebuilding work.
This comes after Francesca Gamble, press officer for the Ideal Home Show, stated that DIY jobs such as fitting laminate flooring are "doable".
