Laminate flooring proves popular in US
Laminate flooring is attracting more and more interest in the US, according to one shop worker.
Larry Mobbs works in a homeware and design shop in Vermont and reported a number of consumer trends in an interview with the Burlington Free Press.
For example, he noted that a growing number of shoppers are choosing to purchase laminate floors.
This, he said, does not appear to be an impulse decision on the part of customers, as many are turning up knowing exactly what they want to buy.
"The big seller has been the laminate," Mr Mobbs observed.
"It's a less expensive floor that can dress up a place and look good."
Mr Mobbs added that consumers are also tending to focus on the price of their chosen flooring before making a purchase.
"Price is a big thing with people these days," he commented.
This comes after a report by market research firm BizAcumen predicted that laminate flooring would become more popular because it is more affordable than other types of flooring.
