Laminate flooring 'is value-oriented'
Laminate flooring has been promoted in a new interior design guide.
Writing for the Santa Clarita Valley Signal, columnist Jim Walker examined some of the flooring choices facing consumers.
He claimed that increased competition, driven by "tough economic times", can potentially benefit renovators seeking to upgrade their flooring.
Mr Walker's comments echo the findings of research by Global Industry Analysts which predicted increased demand for laminate flooring.
He spoke to owner of Marty's Flooring America Dustin Downen who said there are a range of fantastic finance options available, in addition to generally lower-priced flooring.
"The universal plus of laminate is that it is value-oriented," he said. "Laminate doesn't dent and get the fine scratches that wood does. Pet owners, especially, prefer laminate."
However, Mr Downen went on to warn homeowners of the dangers associated with cleaning their laminate floors with water. He advised the use of a floor-specific cleaner and claimed that using water could potentially void a warranty.
