Laminate flooring is a 'great budget option'

Laminate flooring has been listed as a great material for homeowners seeking to renovate on a budget.

The Express and Star's guide to DIY products also hailed laminate floors for their durability.

It explained that the material is created using a layered construction and does not contain any actual timber but instead imitates real wood by using a printed pattern set made from resin or plastic.

This makes it highly resistant to wear, in addition to being easy to maintain, with low grade laminate floors typically lasting between five to 15 years.

The guide promoted its ease of installation, noting that the product is "simply clicked into place" and stands on a layer of foam.

"Laminate flooring is a great option for those on a budget looking for a classy and modern alternative to carpets or other floors," it said.

This comes after Pyry Management Consulting predicted the laminate flooring industry will grow in 2011.
