Laminate flooring is 'a convenient option'

Laminate flooring has been hailed as a good choice for those seeking ease of installation and a durable material.

An Independent Online Lifestyle guide to the product claimed that laminate floors are perfect for DIY enthusiasts who want to renovate a space, stating that it can give a room an "instant design lift" and can also add value to a property.

Helen Marshall, marketing director for South African retailer Floors Direct, listed some of the key features of laminate flooring.

"[It] is great value for money and a convenient flooring option that is simple to maintain and appealing to the eye," she said.

The guide went on to set out a number of tips for those tackling renovations and warned against fitting laminate floors in rooms where large amounts of water is present.

This comes after members of the European Producers of Laminate Flooring reported achieving worldwide sales of 479 million square meters of the material during 2010.
