Laminate flooring installed in army base development
Laminate flooring has been installed as part of a development of apartments in the US.
The Fort Jackson development is due to be completed in 2013 and will include 850 properties for soldiers and their families, reports the State.
Dark oak laminate flooring and carpet were installed in place of the white tiled floors that were featured in the old apartments.
Barracks-style accommodation is being replaced by the new apartments and houses.
New resident Kristi Arnold said the redeveloped apartment exceeded her expectations.
She said: "They gave us what they said they were going to do. This is an amazing upgrade from what we had."
Laminate flooring has also been selected for a development of condos in North York, California, reports the National Post.
The living rooms and kitchens of the condos will feature the laminate flooring, which is often installed as it is inexpensive and retains heat well, while carpet will be laid in the bedrooms.
