Installing laminate flooring 'best left to professionals'

Homeowners who are looking to replace their floor have been advised to call in professionals to fit laminate flooring.

According to Paige Thomas King, owner of Hodgepodge, Where You Gather Your Home in Clarksville in the US, choosing to fit her new laminate flooring with her husband proved to be a mistake.

Speaking to the Leaf Chronicle, she said: "This project ended our delight in each other's company."

Ms King chose the laminate flooring as it is "very attractive", easy on the back and knees and an affordable choice.

However, she stated that her compound mitre saw, as well as several other tools, had not survived the attempts to fit the laminate flooring.

"Lessons learned - the laminate was the perfect choice for our kitchen, installing it ourselves was not," Ms King added.

This contradicts the advice of Mike Albrecht, division director for Home Depot's installation business, who told MarketWatch that installing laminate flooring could be a good DIY project.
