'Improve kitchen safety' with laminate flooring
Laminate flooring has been hailed as a great option for homeowners seeking to enhance the safety of their kitchen.
A Seattle Times guide to renovation stated the area is often the busiest room in the home and is typically a popular target for remodelling.
However, it also warned that the kitchen can be the most dangerous room and consulted the US' National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) on safety tips for homeowners.
The organisation promoted the installation of laminate flooring as a way to prevent slips in the room.
"Install slip-resistant flooring," said the NKBA. "Some good choices are matte-finished wood or laminate, textured vinyl or a soft-glazed ceramic tile."
Similarly, the organisation promoted the use of rugs - noting that a floor covering with a non-skid backing can be a good option for homeowners who are concerned about safety.
This comes after Online Social Media praised the iRobot Scooba 230, a mechanical cleaning aid which can clean laminate floors, in addition to other materials.
