Homeworkers 'should install laminate flooring'

Laminate flooring could be a good design option for a home-based office, an expert has advised.

According to interior designer Kelly Porter, laminate flooring can help make a room feel more urban.

Speaking to the Washington Post, she also noted that the material could also help to brighten the office and make it seem larger.

Ms Porter suggested that homeworkers complement the laminate flooring with white furniture, as this brings balance to the various colours around the room.

"The white breaks up the colour and makes everything more peaceful," she commented.

"It gives the eye a place to rest."

However, Ms Porter suggested that if homeworkers want to add a little energy into their workspace, they add small doses of orange around the room.

This follows a similar recommendation from Neil Wertheimer, editor-in-chief of Fresh Home, who noted that laminate flooring is a highly durable and attractive material for a home office.
