Homeowners handed laminate flooring repair tips

Laminate flooring repair tips have been given to homeowners who use the material throughout their property.

Writing for the Times Colonist, Mary Beth Breckenridge was queried by one reader, whose laminate floors had developed "a few dents and dings" and wished to know if wood filler could be used to fix up the damaged sections.

Ms Breckenridge consulted David Biss, spokesman for wood putty manufacturer Minwax, who explained that filling products should not be used in this way.

However, she pointed out that there are a range of fillers made specially for laminate flooring and suggested shopping online for brand-specific kits.

Ms Breckenridge also spoke to Tammy Weadock, marketing manager for US retailer Wilsonart Flooring, who promoted ColorFill floor repair putty by Cal-Flor Accessory Systems.

Earlier in the month, a recent Morning Call DIY guide advised homeowners to take "common sense precautions" when it comes to protecting their wood floors.
