Fitting laminate flooring 'is too much effort'
Activities such as fitting laminate flooring are increasingly being left to the professionals as Britons are losing interest in DIY, new research has found.
According to a survey by Bosch, 70 per cent of people think carrying out home improvement work is "too much effort".
This could include fitting laminate flooring or sanding solid wood floors.
Bosch DIY expert Chris Tidy said the reason behind the drop in interest in home improvement work is a lack of confidence among Britons in their own abilities.
"DIY can be time and cost-effective as well as straightforward with simple step-by-step instructions," he commented.
"What's more the personal fulfilment and satisfaction that comes from doing a significant job yourself is unbeatable."
Homeowners who are willing to attempt fitting laminate flooring themselves will need to ensure they level the subfloor before they begin.
Writing for eHow, Bambi Turner explained that it is "critical" to have a properly levelled subfloor before beginning the work.
