DIY fans focus on bathroom

A growing number of homeowners are deciding to do up their bathrooms, experts have revealed.

According to LoveGlassUK.com, about one in five people who own a property are currently having a new bathroom suite fitted.

The firm said many of these consumers are carrying out certain tasks themselves, such as adding shower screens and fitting various accessories.

LoveGlassUK.com noted that decorating a bathroom can be relatively inexpensive when compared with the cost of revamping other rooms.

This, it said, explains why it has become a popular home improvement project among many property owners this summer.

"These changes, however small they are, can have a massive impact on your home environment," LoveGlassUK.com added.

According to a recent study by Halifax, 56 per cent of homeowners are carrying out various improvements on the property this year.

As a result, average spending on DIY tools and equipment has gone up by more than £1,000 to £6,362.
